The Inspiration: I loved the idea of a mother/daughter relationship that is loving and affectionate, but struggling to overcome the fact that Mom talks to dead people - definitely as uncool
as it gets in the world of seventh grade.  I've been fascinated with the supernatural all my life, and consulted with a renowned medium who told me what it was like growing up with the ability to see the dead.
